Let’s set sail on a culinary adventure around the world of seafood! With so many ways to prepare and enjoy seafood, we can dive into different cooking styles, flavor profiles, and iconic dishes from various countries. Whether you’re craving something light and fresh, rich and comforting, or bold and spicy, seafood has something for everyone. 1. Grilled Seafood: Smoky and Bold Grilling seafood infuses it with a smoky depth, often paired with fresh herbs and citrus to keep the dish bright and vibrant. Grilled Lobster with Garlic Herb Butter (USA) Lobster tails are split and brushed with a rich garlic butter mixture, then grilled until lightly charred and tender. A squeeze of lemon elevates this classic summer dish. Grilled Sardines with Lemon and Olive Oil (Portugal) Sardines, seasoned with sea salt, olive oil, and fresh lemon, are grilled to perfection. This simple preparation is often served with crusty bread and a side of salad. Tandoori Shrimp (India) Shrimp marinated in a spiced yogurt mixture with turmeric, cumin, coriander, and paprika, then grilled for a smoky and aromatic bite. Served with a cooling mint chutney. 2. Searing: Crispy on the Outside, Tender Inside Searing seafood creates a beautiful, golden crust, locking in the natural juices and intensifying the flavors. Seared Scallops with Lemon-Basil Butter (France) Scallops are seared until golden brown on the outside, then served with a velvety lemon-basil butter sauce. This dish is delicate, rich, and incredibly flavorful. Seared Tuna with Sesame Crust (Japan) Fresh ahi tuna steaks are coated in sesame seeds and seared briefly to keep the inside rare. It’s often served with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger for a deliciously simple dish. 3. Steaming: Light and Delicate Steaming is a fantastic way to cook seafood while keeping the flavors subtle and the texture tender. Steamed Mussels with White Wine and Garlic (Belgium/France) Mussels steamed in a white wine broth with garlic, shallots, fresh parsley, and a touch of cream. Serve with crusty bread to soak up the delicious broth. 4. Fried: Crispy and Crunchy Fried seafood is a fan favorite for its satisfying crunch and rich flavors. From tempura to traditional batter, it’s hard to resist. Just to name a few! This class is packed with so many different options for us to explore, and the curriculum created for this class covers it all!
