The Path to creating a Recipe
A recipe is much like sheet music, just follow the rhythm...

I’m so glad you’re excited about the class! When it comes to a recipe coming together, it’s all about balance—flavors, textures, and techniques. Let’s break it down into manageable steps, kind of like how you would in any good recipe: 1. Inspiration Everything starts with an idea! Whether you’re cooking from scratch or using a recipe as a guide, inspiration is the spark. Are you craving something sweet, savory, spicy, or comforting? The first step is deciding what kind of dish you're making. 2. Ingredients Next, it’s time to gather your ingredients. The beauty of cooking is that you can get creative here. Think about what you have on hand and what complements each other. For example, if you're making a pasta dish, you might consider tomatoes, garlic, basil, and parmesan—classic ingredients that are easily adaptable! 3. Flavor Profile Now that you know what ingredients you're working with, think about the flavor profile. This is where your creativity really starts to shine. Are you leaning into acidity (like citrus or vinegar), richness (butter, cream), earthiness (mushrooms, root vegetables), or heat (spices, chilies)? Mixing contrasting flavors—like sweet and salty, or creamy and crunchy—can really elevate a dish. 4. Techniques and Preparation Depending on the dish, the techniques you use will make or break the recipe. Are you chopping, sautéing, roasting, or simmering? Every step in cooking adds layers of flavor and texture. The key here is knowing when to apply heat, how long to cook things, and when to add certain ingredients. For example, garlic burns quickly, so it should be added later in a sauté to avoid bitterness. This is where your timing and intuition as a cook come into play. 5. Layering and Adjusting Taste as you go! This is one of the most fun parts of the process. Adjust seasoning, texture, and even color as you build your dish. If it’s too salty, maybe add a splash of vinegar or a bit of sugar. If it’s too thick, you can always thin it We'll be preparing four unique dishes, each focusing on different combinations and techniques to enhance flavors. As a subscriber, you’re welcome to take this class as many times as you like. Each session offers new recipes for you to collect, perfect, and enjoy! Since the menu changes bi-weekly, we’ll email the updated menu and shopping list to our subscribers 7 days before the class. Participants are welcome to make all four dishes, or simply observe and participate in the dishes they choose.
